Letters from "Our Boys" at the Front.
Mr C. Pye, of Milford, has received the following letter from his son, covering an interesting account of an important engagement, and placed the same at our disposal:-
Voss Kop, January 30
I sending you an account of the fight we had lately as it appeared in the Natal Witness. I tried to get you a copy of the paper with the account of it in, but could not, so I have copied it out. A good patrol of us went out the other day and captured 65. There is to be a night march tonight, so most likely there will be a brush with the enemy at daylight, let us hope so. I got your welcome letter dated 8th December this morning. Glad to learn all the folks are doing well, it will be only a matter of a few months now when I expect to be with you again if the blessed fever does not catch me. I am all right yet, but the chaps are going out fast to the hospital. Sergeant Moore of our squad died this morning, and J. Cabot of Timaru is very ill, poor Jim Scott had to go to the hospital, but I think he is getting all right again, he is in the Charleston hospital. The three Rippingales are all in the hospital. I am glad to learn Captain Findlay got safe home. Please remember me to all friends and relations - S. J. Pye
