The earliest reference of the Gitchard family was in 1547, where Elizabeth, widow of John Gitchard, held a house and 5 acres within the hamlet of Treliske and also a house and 3 acres at Reqhanken, another hamlet in the Manor. In 1562 John and Elizabeth Gitchard held Treviska and Beghanken in the Duchy of Cornwall Manor of Tewington. Eliabeth was succeeded by Richard her son in 1584 and he in turn was followed by his son Luke who farmed 2 tenements in 1591. Details from J Whitford
