The Wanganui Herald 29th June 1937 shows
Mrs. George Greener
The death occurred at Wellington on Sunday of Mrs. G. Greener, a former highly respected resident of Wanganui. The late Mrs. Greener was born in Wanganui 76 years ago, and was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kelly. Her father was a member of D Battery, Royal Artillery, and arrived in Auckland in 1858, moving to Wanganui two years later to reside. In 1878 (this year is incorrect as married 1883) the deceased married Mr. George Greener, who pre-deceased her 17 years ago. Prior to her marriage Mrs. Greener was one of the first members of the Sodality of the Children of Mary in this city. She was a valued member of St. Mary's parish, and her generous and charitable nature found expression in the various avenues of activity of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and other parish organisations. She is survived by her brother, Mr. Charles Kelly (Wellington), one daughter, Mrs. J. Walshe (Wellington), and six sons. Rev. Brother Philip, of the Marist Brother's Order, Arthur (Westport), Jack (Palmerston North), Charles (Wellington), George and Fred (Wanganui). Four of her sons, George, Fred, Arthur, and Charles, also her brother, were at the Great War. A daughter, Theresa, met her death under tragic circumstances at Wellington some years ago. The funeral took place at the Catholic Cemetery this morning. Prior to the cortege leaving for the cemetery Requiem Mass was celebrated at St. Mary's Church by the Rev. Father Outtrim. During the Mass the boys of the Marist Brothers' School Choir sang a number of hymns impressively. At the church the boys also formed a guard of honour. The funeral was attended by the Marist Brothers and friends of the family. The Marist Rugby, cricket, and soccer clubs were represented. The Rev. Father N. B. Moloney officiated at the graveside. The pallbearers were Messrs C. Kelly, J. Walsh (sic), C. Greener, J. Greener, F. Greener, and J. Molan
