Caleb and Charlotte Maslin sailed on the "Maori" with their 5 children to New Zealand in 1858. It departed from Gravesend, London on the 22/3/1858 and arrived in Lyttelton on the 14/7/1858.

Included in the details for William Stephen Maslin.
In 1861 the family removed to Geraldine, where Mr. Maslin (Caleb Maslin), senior, opened a timber yard. Steam was not then applied in the district to cutting timber, and the supply was kept up by from six to eight pairs of hands sawyers. On the 21st June, 1864, Mr. Maslin, senior, was killed while bricking a well on his property and he left a family to two sons and three daughters.
