This is the last will and testament of me William Gichard of the parish of St Austell in the County of Cornwall.
Gentlemen I desire to be interned in the Burial Ground of Saint Austell aforesaid and to be bourne thither by fishermen residing in Trenarren and parish aforesaid
I give Grace my beloved wife an annuity of ten pounds to be payable and paid quarterly out of my lands hereinafter devised to my son William so long only as she shall live and remain my widow I also give her so much furniture as she may select and be sufficient to furnish her house and I direct that my executor permit her to reside in the dwelling house which we may occupy at the time of my decease for one year paying two pounds and 15 shillings as rent for the same And I direct my executors provide her during the first 3 months of that year with sufficient meat drink fuel and other necessaries in housekeeping.
I give and devise to my said wife during her widowhood only all that
dwelling house in Trenarren aforesaid now occupied by Frank Vivian
I give unto my son Edward three hundred pounds
I give unto my daughter Amy fifty pounds to be paid by ten equal yearly instalments the first payment thereof to be made at the end of the year next after my decease but it is my will that the payments shall only continue during her life
I give unto my grandchildren a crown piece of silver and the remainder of my crownpieces I give unto my four children share and share alike
I give and devise to my son William all my copyhold messages lands
tenements and hereitaments situate in the said parish of Saint Austell which I have surrendered to Mr. Joseph Pearce and Mr. Reuben Thomas to the use of my will except the right my wife during her widowhood in the said dwelling house now occupied by Frank Vivian to hold the same unto and to use of my said son William and his heirs according to the custom of the Manor of Tewington of which they are parts and parcels
I give unto my daughter Grace my third part or share of Warren Tenement in or near Trenarren aforesaid
I give to my said wife the further sum of 5 pounds to be paid her at
the end of one month next after my decease
A codicil to my will
Be it known to all men by these present here that I William Gichard in the parish of Saint Austell have made and deliver my last will and
testament writing bearing the date the thritieth day September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty
I the said William Gichard by this present codicil do ratify and
confirm my last said will and testament and do further give and bequeath unto my daughter Grace Geach five pounds out of my chattle estate and one silver half pint cup and two silver spoons marked E. L.
I also give unto my daughter Amy Geach one silver half pint cup and two silver spoons marked AMA
this codicil was written in my own hand on the eight day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty
Signed William Gichard
I hereby relinquish quit claim to and forgive all my debts due to me
from my sons in law George and William Geach
All the rest of my residue and remainder of goods rights and credits I give and bequeath to my son William and Edward to be equally divided between them and I constitute and appoint my said sons joint executers
