     Still alive when James Charles (Jamie) Pye was 11 or 12. The old saw bench in Jamie's backyard his Dad (James Thorpe Pye) made at the Wellington City Council yard. The yard was located on the area enclosed by Cable, Chaffer and Heard Streets in Wellington. James Charles Pye (Jamie) remembers taking it to Uncle Jack's in Jacobs St, Wellington to saw wood

Jamie Pye remembers him only having one arm/hand? he used to screw knives into a leather pouch thingy. Could have been his right hand?

M Anderson nee Hobday remembers being took a story about an uncle who blew his hand off dynamiting fish in the harbour and then used a hook for his hand and how he would use it to "nick" your roast potato at dinner.

The Hawera & Normanby Star 23rd October 1895 shows
Serious Accident at Eltham.
At Eltham this (Wednesday) morning, a young man named John Thorpe was riding a young horse, and when in front of Mr Stanners' butcher, the horse commenced bucking, throwing its rider off violently, and landing him on the kerbing. Thorpe sustained a fracture of the leg above the ankle. Dr Harrison temporarily fixed him up and sent him by train to the Hawera Hospital.

George Alfred, Ino and George Raymond (son) lived in Tasmania, they moved back to Masterton by 1928 and then George Raymond moved to Palmerston North. He went to war and did Air Force Training in Canada and met his wife Evelyn. Evelyn came to NZ as one of the first lots of Canadian War Brides
