Will of William Collier, 1742 to 1809

I William Collier of John Street in the parish of Christ Church Spitalfields in the county of Middlesex weaver being of sound mind and memory and understanding do make this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say I give and bequeath to my dear wife Phoebe Collier the rent of all my houses due and that may become due at and after my death with all the interest that shall be due and may become due at and after my death on my stock in the Bank of England hereinafter mentioned likewise whatever interests or dividends that may arise during her life on my ten shares in the Hope Insurance I also give to my said wife to be at her own disposal all debts due to me from others at my decease also all monies in ????? stocks in trust goods furniture, furniture wearing apparel and moveable chattels of any description belonging to me at my death but whatever of my said debts goods and chattels shall remain undispersed of by my wife at her decease I give the same to my daughter Phoebe Collier as hereinafter mentioned and after my said wife's death my said houses ????? property debts goods and chattels I disperse of as follows that is to say I give and bequeath to my eldest son William Delves Collier of the White House in Hare Street Bethnal Green my three houses in St John Street Bethnal Green for the remainder of the lease thereof I also give and bequeath to him my four leasehold houses numbers 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 in Shacklewell Street also three leasehold houses numbers 23, 24 and 25 in Carter Street Bethnal Green and I likewise give and bequeath to the said William Delves Collier my ten shares in the Hope Insurance I give and bequeath to my daughter Ann Kemp wife of William Kemp of number 73 Roadside Whitechapel my four leasehold houses in Princes Court at Princes Street Bethnal Green also my house in John Street Bethnal Green ????? and the house next adjoining to my said daughter for all the remainder of the ???lease the said several houses I give and bequeath to my son Thomas Collier of number 11 Shacklewell Street Bethnal Green ???? seven leasehold cottages with a rope ground adjacent in Shacklewell street aforesaid also my two leasehold houses in front of Shacklewell Court being numbers 2 and 4 and eight houses in the same court for all the remainder of the terms I have therein given I give and bequeath to my daughter Phoebe Collier the interest of £1000 which I have in the 4% Consolidated Bank annuities serving her natural life and after her decease I give the capital of the said bank annuities unto her child or children ????? to be divided between or allotted amounts therein if there be more than one at their ages of 21 years and the interest in the meantime to be applied for their benefit but if my said daughter should depart this life without issue or leaving none who should attain the age of 21 years then I give that said £1000 bank annuities to be equally divided among my two sons and my daughter Ann ????? before married also I give to my daughter Phoebe my leasehold house number 13 Thomas's Street Bethnal Green for all the remainder of my term therein and lastly I give to my said daughter Phoebe all such of the deeds goods and chattels therein before given to my wife as shall remain undispersed by her at her decease and constituted and appoint my dear wife Phoebe Collier sole executrix of this my Will during her natural life and after her decease I appoint my daughter Phoebe to be sole executrix thereof and hereby revoke all former wills by me made in ???? of whereby I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 28th day of November 1808

This will was proved at London the 11th April 1809 before the worshipful Charles Coote DLL and surrogate of the Rt Hon Sir John Mitchell Kt. Master Keeper or Commissory of the Prerogatve Court of Canterbury by the oath of Phoebe Collier widow the relict of the deceased and the sole executrix named in the said will for life to whom administration was granted of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased she having been first duly sworn to administer.

Addendum
On the 15th August 1814 ???????????? with the will annexed of the goods and chattels and credits of William Collier late of John Street in the Parish of Christ Church Spitalfields in the county of Middlesex deceased left unadministered by Phoebe Collier widow deceased whilst living the relict ?????? for life being the universal legatee for life named in the said will now granted to William Delves Collier the son and legatee substitute in the will ????? first duty to ?? John Smithers the lawful husband of Phoebe Smithers formerly Collier deceased whilst living the sole ???? but is since deceased intestate having first remarried the ???? of administration with the ??? will annexed of the goods of the deceased left unadministered as aforesaid. William was born around 1742. He lived at New Inn Yard and Holywell Street in Shoreditch from 1779 –1875, and in St John Spitalfields from 1799 – 1808, where his trade was Fringe, Ferrit and Velvet Ribbon Maker (1799), Narrow Velvet Maker (1802) and Weaver (1808). He married Phoebe Booth of John Street by licence on 3.9.1782 (unsure if this date is correct); she was born around 1747. Both were buried at Christchurch Spitalfields, William on 20.12.1808 and Phoebe on 7.2.1812. William and Phoebe had six children. From "The Collier Family"
