The Evening Post 21st December 1904 shows
The late Mr. Thomas Windley, whose funeral at Porirua yesterday was largely attended, was well known and respected. He was a native of Derbyshire and came out to Dunedin in the sixties. He settled in Wellingtin soon afterwards, and carried on business as a contractor in the city until a permanent injury to his eyes, through an accident in Willis street, obliged him to relinquish the business. He took up land in Porirua, and resided on it until his death, which occurred on Monday. He has left a grown up family of four sons. His age was 78
