Mrs. Diment,
Tinakori Road,
Wellington
Dear Madam,
In regard to the funeral expenses of your late husband we took the liberty of waiting on the undertaker Mr. Clark to ascertain whether he could see his way clear to allow some reduction off his account of 25 pounds.
Mr. Clark very readily and kindly agreed to allow a rebate of 5 pounds, and to accept 20 pounds in full settlement.
As we have been sincerely anxious to render you some assistance in view of your recent sad loss, we have paid this amount, and ask you to accept this help, as an expression of our sympathy with you. We shall also increase your boy's weekly wage by 2/6 from now on, and shall be ready to advance his interests further, if he proves worthy, as we have little doubt he will.
We enclose Mr. Clark's receipt herewith.
Your son's fellow employees felt they would like to participate, and collected amongst themselves the sum of 4-10-0 pounds which we herewith enclose.
We are
Yours faithfully
