On January 11, 1956, at the Auckland Hospital (and late of 54 Upper Queen Street), dearly beloved wife of the late John Brodie and loved mother of Agnes (Mrs Widdows), May (Mrs McGillicuddy) and the late Ada (Mrs Daly); aged 92 years. R.I.P. Requiem Mass will be celebrated at St Benedict's Church at 6.45 a.m. tomorrow (Friday), the funeral leaving the church at 11 a.m. for Otahuhu Public Cemetery. Rosary at the church at 7.15 tonight (Thursday)

The North Otago Times 16th April 1894 shows
A sitting of the Supreme Court in the Admiralty Jurisdiction was held this morning before his Honor Mr Justice Conolly. James and Michael Walsh sought to recover waged amounting to 80 pounds 6 shillings 8 pences from the paddle steamer Barstaw, alleged to be due to them. The steamer is at present lying in Mokau river. Mr McAlister appeared for the plaintiffs, and Mr Theo. Cooper for the defence. The steamer was employed in the Whangamarino and Maramarua Creeks running into the Waikato river, and also in the Mokau river. His Honor gave judgment for the plaintiffs with costs, the order for the sale of the vessel not to be enforced for 20 days
